Battambang Provincial Court was questioning three people yesterday for allegedly extorting money from labourers who hired them to take them to Thailand for work.

Court spokesman Seng Phanith said military police arrested the trio.

Local media said Yim Savuth, 39, Chum Ratha, 26, and Sin Chin, 37, extorted money from the labourers by threatening them. The trio took the money to buy drugs.

Mr Phanith said the victims filed a complaint in Kamrieng district with military police who arrested the trio on Saturday.
