Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered provincial authorities to set up quarantine centres in their provinces to accommodate those who cannot conduct self-isolation at home.

“I would like to order all the provinces to set up quarantine centres. I have ordered them to do so since early this year. There are thousands of rooms,” he said.

Mr Hun Sen’s statement comes today as he attended a groundbreaking ceremony for 38 road construction in Siem Reap province.

“We must be ready. I know that the provinces are ready. We have to have material in place and supply them. People are required to be quarantined,” he said.

Mr Hun Sen said the quarantine centre is also the place where doctors can take COVID-19 samples to be tested.

He said so far, there are two COVID-19 test centres in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, with two other places being built in Preah Sihanouk and Battambang provinces.
