Two Chinese men remain in police custody after drunkenly ramming their vehicle into a parked SUV that belongs to Chroy Changvar district governor Khliang Huot on Tuesday.
Mr Huot posted on his Facebook page yesterday that the two hit his SUV, which he had left outside the Phnom Penh Hotel before going to the gym in Sras Chak commune.
“The Chinese were very drunk and drove their Land Cruiser and hit my SUV,” he said.
“They are Chinese, but they have to respect the Cambodian law.”
“If they did not hit my car, they would have hit people,” he added.
Mr Huot, who is also a personal adviser of Prime Minister Hun Sen, said he would let authorities deal with the case according to the law.
Kan Vannak, Sras Chak commune police chief, said that after the accident the two men and their SUV were detained at the municipal traffic police office for questioning.
