The Ministry of Interior has issued new regulations to stamp out corruption at one-window services across the country, where residents go to have public documents certified.

The order was signed on Tuesday by Interior Minister Sar Kheng, and is aimed at  ensuring quality, transparency and accountability at the 47 one-window offices across the country.

The order specifies the structure of the offices and staff assignments, while noting that work performance will be monitored and appraised.

It says offices are divided into the front end where officers receive documents and provide consultations with the people and are told to be friendly, and the back end, where officers are in charge of checking documents, research and compiling data.

Preap Kol, executive director of Transparency International Cambodia, said the new regulations will help stamp out any illicit activity in the offices.

“The one-window services will provide aid to people with transparency and better accountability and professionalism,” he said. “The people will receive service quickly.”
