Stung Treng provincial military police stopped a van carrying timber and arrested two people in Stung Treng town early yesterday.

According to Fresh News, a van carrying unregistered timber was seized and two people, Ra Rin, 27, and Nil Nol, 23, were detained at the forestry administration.

Meas Sophon, Stung Treng cantonment forestry administration chief, declined to comment. Ieng Vandy, provincial military police commander, could not be reached for comment.

Chroeng Khmao, prosecutor of the provincial court, said that he was not aware of the case and did not receive the two suspects yet. He referred calls to Mr Sophon.

Mr Khmao on Tuesday criticised Mr Sophon for hiding information about forestry crimes and not cooperating with court prosecutors during an earlier raid on land given to tycoon Try Pheap as an economic land concession.
