Military police and customs officers in Ratanakkiri’s Koun Mom district seized more than 10 illegally imported second-hand bulldozers on Tuesday.
The bulldozers were allegedly imported from Vietnam by a Cambodian businessman.
The seizure took place in Ta Ang commune, where the owner was running a business clearing land for farmers.
Ta Ang commune police chief Yim Sothy said: “Customs officers confiscated 13 bulldozers because the owner had smuggled them into the country without paying customs duty.”
He declined to reveal the name of the owner, who he said was not arrested during the raid.
“The bulldozers are being kept at the customs and excise department in Ratanakkiri province,” Mr Sothy said, adding that officers were waiting for the owner to pay import tax and fines to reclaim the machinery.
