Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged a 51-year-old man over the rape of his two stepdaughters, aged 4 and 6.
Chim Sitha, Dangkor district police chief, said the suspect was a construction worker living with his wife and her two daughters in the district.
He was arrested on Tuesday after a complaint was filed against him by the aunt of the girls.
Kong Vannak, a police officer with Dangkor district police, said the suspect began living with his new wife early this year. The abuses began while his wife was not at home.
“According to two victims’ answers, every time the suspect got drunk or when their mother did not stay at home, he always abused them sexually,” Mr Vannak said.
“After the abuse, he always threatened to beat them or kill them if they told anyone.”
Mr Vannak said the girls visited their aunt on July 24, when she noticed injuries to their bodies.
The aunt brought the children to a hospital, where a doctor confirmed they had been raped. She then notified police, said Mr Vannak.
