Nine sex workers were arrested when police raided a coffee shop in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district – but the owner fled.
Officers from the municipal police anti-human trafficking office moved in on the Sras Chork commune shop on Tuesday, confiscating condoms.
Keo Thea, chief of the anti-human trafficking office, said: “We rounded up nine sex workers and all of them are Vietnamese.
“We could not arrest the owner because when we got there, he had already escaped.” The owner was identified in local media as Bin, 49.
“We are seeking a warrant from the court to arrest him,” Mr Thea said.
He said the sex workers were sent to the Department of Social Affairs for advice and let go. None were minors.
