Two women were charged on Monday with sending nearly a kilo of methamphetamine to Australia.
Interior Ministry police officer Meas Sarith said Chan Anita, 32, and Be Kimeng, 35, were arrested after Australian police seized the drugs from a Cambodian-Australian man who came to pick up the package the women had sent this month.
“They sent the package of nearly one kilo of crystal methamphetamine via the DHL courier company from Cambodia to Australia,” Mr Sarith said.
“Police in Australia reported it to Cambodian police for their cooperation in arresting the suspects.”
Both were detained by the ministry’s anti-terrorism department in Phnom Penh on Friday.
Phnom Penh Municipal Court later sent the suspects to Prey Sar prison pending further investigations.
