Police are searching for a truck driver after a container of clothes heading to Denmark was stolen in Preah Sihanouk’s Prey Nup district on Sunday.

According to a police report, the driver abandoned the container truck in O’Oknha Heng commune. The lock to the container had been broken and the clothes inside stolen.

The logistics company responsible was identified as Chhun Hong Group and the owner of the clothes as Hai Mao Hour, which lost 798 women’s dresses.

Hai Mao Hour has filed a police complaint implicating the driver Sos Ratha, 24, in the crime, but he remains at-large.

A representative of Hai Mao Hour said the goods were heading to Denmark through Sihanoukville port.

“We are discussing the issue with the logistics company and we suspect the driver of stealing the clothes inside the container,” he said.

“If the goods do not reach Denmark on time, the clients will fine us. We are talking with the logistics company about compensation, but they need time to seek intervention from the police to find the driver.”

Provincial and Prey Nup district police officers confirmed the theft,  but declined to comment because provincial military police are in charge of the case.

Heng Bunty, provincial military police commander, could not be reached for comment.
