The Ministry of Education on Friday announced the elected subject to be included in this year’s Grade 12 national exam.
The exam includes the same basic subjects every year, including mathematics, Khmer literature, biology, physics, chemistry and English. But the ministry also votes each year to elect another subject to be included on the exam.
After the vote on Friday, Education Minister Hang Choun Naron announced in a statement that the elected subject will be history under the science field, and meteorology under the environment field.
Ouk Chhayavy, chief of the Cambodia Independent Teachers Association, said he feels the exam was harder in the past, when at least 10 subjects were included in the itinerary.
“Before there were many subjects,” he said. “Now it’s been reduced to only seven.”
The exams have been set for August 21 and 22, when more than 100,000 students are expected to sit the tests at nearly 200 exam centres across the country.
