The Ministry of Justice has cleared 3,454 court case backlogs across the Kingdom within 42 days, according to a press statement released yesterday.

It said the cases were quickly cleared after the launch of a campaign on May 18.

“The total number of cleared cases represents 25 percent of the total court case backlogs,” the statement added.

According to the Ministry of Justice, there are 40,000 court cases across the Kingdom which need to be resolved during the six-month campaign.

It said the campaign’s committee is working to clear all these cases by the end of the year.

The ministry said although the campaign is promoting a speedy solution for the backlogged cases, it ensures that the work will be carried out justly and without corruption.

At the moment, the campaign is focusing only on criminal cases stuck in the courts in order to reduce overcrowding in prisons.
