The bodies of four fishermen who were lost at sea on Monday were discovered yesterday in Preah Sihanouk province’s Stung Hav district, while three more fishermen remain missing.

The group of fishermen disappeared during heavy storms on Monday in Tomnob Rolok commune.

Bo Nam, Tomnob Rolok commune police chief, said yesterday the four bodies were discovered near the place the boat disappeared during the storm.

“We are still searching for another three men who also fell into the sea with their boats, but we do not have high hopes that they are still alive,” he said.

He said that the rainstorm on Monday caused strong waves at sea that capsized at least three fishing boats.

“When we know the storm is coming, we always announce it to the fishermen and the other citizens in our area to be careful and not go fishing, but some of them did not listen to us,” Mr Nam said.
