Organisers have been calling for the Kingdom’s budding footballers to register for the upcoming qualification round of the 24SEVENS Super Cup, a seven-a-side annual football tournament contested by teams from 10 cities worldwide.
“24Sevens is a worldwide football tournament series that has been operational for 3 years, said Christopher Grant, head of the local organising team.
“The set-up here in Cambodia will be a champions league-style format, with 16 teams competing in four groups and the top two qualifying for the knockout-stage.”
The group stage will begin on July 29 and end in September.
A knock-out round spanning September and October will determine the overall Cambodian winner.
“The tournament will be held over two and a half months with games scheduled every week. Games will also be streamed worldwide via the 24sevens YouTube channel,” said Grant.
Tentatively to be held in Thailand in February 2018, the Super Cup will gather champions of each of the individual tournaments from 10 countries to find the best amateur 7 a-side team.
“The most exciting aspect for players and teams in the tournament is the chance to represent Cambodia at the 24sevens Super Cup in Thailand,” said Grant.
“I am delighted to be able to present this opportunity for amateur players in Cambodia to go and compete in the Super Cup at absolutely no cost for the team.”
