The Phnom Penh authority is engaging three waste collection firms to ensure effective waste management in the capital.

The news was shared by Phnom Penh Governor  Khuong Sreng, adding that the companies will  replace the current and only licensed trash collector CINTRI.

According to the governor, 3,000 tonnes of wastes are being generated every day in Phnom Penh alone, as it is now home to about 3 million temporary and permanent residents.

Waste management remains in the top agenda of Phnom Penh capital hall, and so far the authority has also established waste management teams to oversee the services.

Mr Sreng was positive that once in operation, the three companies will be able to handle the waste in Phnom Penh. AKP
