Srey Kumneth / Khmer Times Share:

Bavet Town police are searching for a farmer who allegedly attacked his cousin with a knife in Baty district’s Thma Kenh village on Sunday night, causing serious injuries to both the victim and his wife, according to police.
Deputy Penal Police Chief Kao Horn said 36-year-old Leuk Seun and his cousin, 32-year-old farmer and neighbor Ek Saborn, got into an argument about Mr. Saborn driving through Mr. Seun’s land to access the main road.
“After they insulted each other, the suspect wanted to close the road that the victim had always used,” he said.
Mr. Seun returned later that night to find his cousin and his wife, 29-year-old Prak Heun, on their moto before grabbing a large knife and attacking them as they sped off.
“The suspect was drunk and came back and saw the victims on the moto and immediately the suspect took a big knife to slash the husband on his head, and his wife was chopped on her hand and both of them were seriously injured,” he said.
He added that Mr. Saborn and his wife were being treated in the provincial hospital, while they continue to investigate and search for Mr. Seun, who fled after the attack. “The police charged him with intentional acts of violence,” he added.
According to Article 217 of the Penal Code Mr. Seun is facing one to three years in prison and a fine of two million ($500) to six million ($1,500) riel.
