The country is set to have a dedicated sports channel by the end of the year.
The channel is backed and operated by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOC) and is called Cambodia Sports Television (CSTV).
It is to be aired online and is a timely decision as Cambodia gears up to host its first ever SRA games in 2023.
Vat Chamroeun, Tourism Secretary of State and secretary general of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), said that such a channel is needed to ensure that the SEA Games receives the necessary coverage.
Technical expertise and human resource to operate this channel will be trained by the NOCC to ensure that the channel is able to deliver high-quality broadcasts.
It is hoped the channel will begin broadcasting by the end of 2020.
Hang Meas HDTV, the free-to-air terrestrial channel, held the rights to the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, which was held in the Philippines.
