More than 10,000 garment workers who recently returned to Phnom Penh from various provinces after the Khmer New Year will be placed in mandatory quarantine, according to officials.
Speaking at a press conference at the Health Ministry today, Health Minister Mam Bun Heng said that the workers will be screened and placed in quarantine.
“Now we are working on that case in which the Labour Ministry is preparing 10 centres to have them screened and be placed in 14-day quarantine,” he said.
“We have to remain highly cautious even though there is no new positive case, ” Mr Bun Heng said, adding that so far 107 patients have recovered.
The ministry has received $4.5 million from the Ministry of Finance while more than $13 million was raised in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, officials said.
