Health Minister Mam Bun Heng requested the Labour Ministry to order garment workers to be self-quarantined for two weeks after they return to the factories from home in a move to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic
In a letter to Labour Minister Ith Samheng, Mr Bun Heng said that the Covid-19 situation remains at high risk of spreading into communities, especially those traveling from one place to another.
“The Health Ministry would like the Labour Minitsry to have those workers placed in a mandatory 14-day quarantine,” he said.
According to Ministry spokesman Heng Sour, more than 90 percent of garment workers come to work as usual by heeding the government’s measure after New Year holiday was cancelled.
