Prime Minister Hun Sen today announced that the government will lift an inter-provincial travel ban across the country to ease traffic jams.

On April 9, Mr Hun Sen issued the ban on inter-provincial travel restrictions in a move to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the wake of cancelled Khmer New Year holidays.

In a letter issued today, Mr Hun Sen said the ban will be lifted today in order to ease traffic congestions across the Kingdom.

“Based on actual requirements to facilitate the travel of people and avoid further traffic jams and with people travelling from one province to another at 24:00 April 16, 2020, the government decides to lift the ban,” he said, noting that the roads from one province to another will open today morning instead.
