The government has ordered massage parlours and spas all over the country to be shuttered to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was announced by Mr Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, in a letter addressed to all city and provincial governors in the kingdom.

He said the move is to prevent and contain the spread of Covid-19, following the National Committee for Combatting COVID-19 meeting on Monday.

“The Ministry of Tourism would like to ask all heads of Tourism department to work with city and provincial administrations to close all massage parlours and spas under the ministry’s authority temporarily, starting from April 7, 2020 under further notice”.

This is the latest move of the government to contain Covid-19 pandemic, which by today has seen 115 cases in the kingdom.

Since early March, the government has also ordered the temporary closure of schools, nightclubs, cinemas, casinos, and gyms and fitness centres while citizens have been urged to avoid gathering together in public.
