From adequate stock piles of essential food stuff like rice, salt and other nonperishable items to face masks and sanitisers for public and health officials, Cambodia is adequately prepared to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Hun Sen, in a message posted on his face book message said that people should focus more on maintaining and ensuring their personal hygiene, practice social distancing than worry of matters such as food supplies and medications and other related equipment and materials.
“The government has put into place several mechanisms to ensure we are capable of combating this virus and to do this, we need the support of all Cambodians.
“We have our own face mask factories which are expected to produce at least 1.2 million face masks. There is also the SKD factory which can produce at least 5,000 liters of alcohol-based sanitizer as a reserve for both people and health practitioners, while medical materials such as hazmat suits will be manufactured by two local factories in Kampong Cham and Svay Rieng provinces.”
In addition, the stock of medical equipment and medicines and the plan to have some factories ready for production of additional medical materials and equipment for local supplies are already in place, the premier said.
He continued that Cambodia has full stock of rice, salt and other foodstuff and has banned the export of some basic commodities to ensure enough food supplies in the country.
