Phnom Penh Municipal Court today charged a freelance journalist for alleged drug possession in the capital.
Kuch Kimlong, the Municipal Court spokesman, identified the accused as Reth Sarun 38, a freelance journalist.
He said the accused was charged with “drug possession” under Article 40 of Law on Drugs Control. He has been sent to prison pending pre-trial.
The accused was arrested at 11pm on March 29 night after he bought a small package of methamphetamine for about $ 0.75 from an unidentified man in Trapaing Chhouk village, in Teuk Thla commune, in the capital’s Sen Sok district.
Police seized a small package of methamphetamine, a phone and a press ID card.
