Cambodia exported a total of 2,936,992 tonnes of agricultural commodities and products to the international markets during the first quarter of the year. Increasing 20 percent from the same period last year, according to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries released yesterday.
From Jan to March, the country exported agricultural products that included rice, dry sliced cassava, fresh cassava, cassava starch, cashew, fresh banana, soybean, mangoes, pepper and rubber. They were exported to more than 20 market destinations, predominately Vietnam, Thailand, the US, and Russia. The report outlined that of the total recorded exports, 1.6 million tonnes was exported through formal channels and 1.3 million through informal channels, to the Vietnamese market.
Srey Vuthy, spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture, said formal exports are issued “phytosanitary certificates”.
