The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport today announced a temporary vacation for all public and private schools in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap town from today until further notice.

The decision follows the recent discovery of COVID-19 cases in said areas.

The ministry said the academic institutions, which have yet to complete the first semesteral student performance assessment, are required to take the average of the monthly scores from December last year to February as the first semestral average.

International schools, it added, must consult with parents and guardians for the implementation of preventive and containment measures as advised by the WHO.

During the vacation, the ministry encouraged all parents to continue their children’s education at home while practicing social distancing. Crowded areas such as public swimming pools, gyms and playgrounds must be avoided to prevent further spread of the virus.
