PARIS (Xinhua) – Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has undergone a COVID-19 test and the result turned out negative, as French local media TF1 reported on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old has been absent from PSG’s training session for two days after picking up a throat infection and a fever. Several French media including L’Equipe reported earlier on Tuesday that the 2018 World Cup winner has been given a test for COVID-19, and TF1 said the result came back in the night as negative.

But the French star remains uncertain for PSG’s Champions League last 16 return leg encounter against Dortmund at the Parc des Princes, which scheduled for Wednesday behind closed doors.

“We’re trying to see if he can train a bit tonight (Tuesday). We have to wait and decide tomorrow morning,” PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel said.

Mbappe is the top scorer in Tuchel’s side this season, having swept 18 goals in Ligue 1 plus five in the Champions League. The French international has scored six goals in his past three appearances for PSG, including a hat-trick in their 5-1 French Cup win over Lyon last week.

PSG lost to Dortmund 2-1 away in a first-leg game when Erling Haaland’s brace shadow the French champions’ duo Mbappe and Neymar.
