The Kandal Provincial Court on Saturday charged and detained a 40-year-old man accused of posting nude photographs of his former 22-year-old girlfriend on Facebook following their breakup.
Colonel Lak Mengthy, Chief of Kandal Provincial Major General Crimes Department, identified the accused as Im Aun, a resident of Prek Chey village, Dangkor commune in the capital’s Dangkor district.
The victim was Thoeun Sreysrosh, a worker at the garment factory and a resident of Kandal province’s Koh Khnor village, Prek Roka commune, Kandal Stung district.
Kandal Provincial Penal Police officer Captain Nuon Savath said the accused and the victim first got acquainted at the factory in April 2017 and started dating a month after.
During that time, the victim was unaware that the accused was married and has two children.
After knowing Aun’s marital status in April last year, the victim broke off their relationship, thus sparking his anger.
Capt Savath noted that on November 27 last year, the victim got engaged with another man and planned to get married on February 21 this year.
Upon hearing of her impending marriage, Aun uploaded two nude photos of the victim and a video of them having sex on his personal Facebook account. The files were also personally sent to the victim and her fiancé, breaking off their engagement.
The victim was very angry with the accused. Her bridegroom called off the wedding and demanded for compensation. She later lodged a complaint against Aun at the Kandal Provincial Police, Cap Savath said.
Kandal Provincial Penal Police, in collaboration with the capital’s Municipal Penal Police, arrested Aun on February 20 at his rental house in Dangkor commune. A phone containing more naked photos of the victim was seized from the accused.
He is currently being detained in prison pending trial.
