Foreign Affairs Minister to attend 5th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation

Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to attend the 5th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (COVID-19) next week.

The meeting will be attended by Foreign Ministers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam and China and the Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on 19-20 February 2020.

According to the ministry, the 5th MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will review the progress made since the 4th MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in December 2018, set future direction of the MLC toward sustainable development, and prepare for the 3rd MLC Leaders’ Meeting in the near future.

It said the Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on COVID-19 will discuss and exchange views on effective ways and new findings to combat the spread of the COVID-19, during which Mr Sokhonn will also share about Cambodia’s latest information of COVID-19 as well as the measures taken to counter the spread of COVID-19 in Cambodia.

The ministry noted that the participation of Mr Sokhonn will not only strengthen the solidarity and cooperation at this critical time of global health threat but also demonstrate Cambodia’s support to and confidence in all necessary measures taken by the Chinese government to combat the spread of the COVID-19.
