BREAKING NEWS: Coronavirus confirmed in Cambodia

As the first case of Coronavirus in Cambodia is confirmed, some private schools in Cambodia have shuttered their classrooms for a number of days this week as a precautionary measure against the deadly Coronavirus.

Several international schools had revised an earlier notice of schools being re-opened today to reopen tomorrow-pending adoption of adequate safety measures.

These include Northbridge International School, CIA International School and a number of others.

This comes as Health Minister Mam Bun Heng announced the first case of the Coronavirus has been detected on a Chinese tourist in Sihanoukville.

Precautionary measures were placed after some schools had closed for the Chinese New Year festival last weekend and there were many people traveling outside of the city to many provinces as well as abroad.

Meanwhile, vendors of face masks and other masks related to protection of the nasal tract were resorting to hoarding of supplies and or selling them at exorbitant prices, some as much as 200 percent higher.

The health Ministry and the Ministry of Commerce are reportedly looking into this to ensure there are adequate supply of facial masks and hand sanitisers and to eliminate profiteering.
