The situation along the border between Cambodia and Thailand remains as usual despite Sam Rainsy’s planned return to the Kingdom via Poipet International Checkpoint.
Major General Pech Vanna, director of RCAF Cambodia-Thailand Relation Border, today said that the situation was as usual along Cambodian and Thai border with no signs of Rainsy’s sympathisers.
“The situation along the border of both countries is good. No problems ocurred,” Maj Gen Vanna said. “Our authorities in cooperation with Thai authorities are prepared to control the situation.”
Wanted posters of Rainsy and his colleagues have been posted at all checkpoints along the Thai border ahead of his planned return on November 9.
The posters displayed photos of Rainsy, Eng Chhai Eang, Mu Sochua, Ou Chanrith, Ho Vann, Long Ry, Men Sothavrin, Tioulong Saumura, and Nuth Romdoul.
Maj Gen Vanna said that no migrant workers have supported Rainsy’s planned return.
“I think that our people no longer believe in the convicted Sam Rainsy,” Maj Gen Vanna said.
