Interpol and Indonesian authorities have had a convicted Vietnamese-Canadian drug smuggler returned to Cambodia, said General Mok Chito, deputy National Police chief.

According to the Anti-drug department report, Le Hong Phi was arrested on October 25 in Bali, Indonesia, following an Interpol arrant warrant.

On November 1, Cambodian police in cooperation with the Indonesia police brought Le Hong Phi from Indonesia to Cambodia, said Gen. Chito. Adding that the convict will serve the sentence in Cambodia.

Le Hong Phi, who was identified as the mastermind, was sentenced to life imprisonment for an attempt to smuggle more than one ton of cocaine from Ecuador to Cambodia on November 2016 by sea.

The drugs were seized in Shanghai port, while Cambodian authorities arrested a director of a Vietnamese company in Phnom Penh, said the Anti-drug department.
