The Embassy of Malaysia opened its doors again to bring a taste of Eid to Malaysians in Cambodia. Eid, or Aidilfitri, is celebrated to mark the end of Ramadan or the fasting month for Muslims. The embassy went all out to bring the festivity to life with endless Malaysian food and entertainment. Also present were the ambassadors of Pakistan and Indonesia.
Aidilfitri is celebrated all over the world as a sign of victory for Muslims who have completed the act of fasting in the month of Ramadan. It is celebrated in a big way and the festivities usually last for one month, especially in Malaysia. In Cambodia, the Cham community in particular will celebrate it by wearing new clothes, cooking special meals, visiting relatives and giving money packets to children.
