Two women were charged yesterday with cheating a gold vendor out of $350 by selling fake jewellery in a Phnom Penh market.
Por Senchey district police officer Touch Sarith said the accused were Chhean Sambath, 45, and her sister Chhean Sokly, 38.
He said that on Sunday the women sold a pair of fake gold rings for $350 to Suong Dany, 38, a gold vendor at Por Chentong market in Por Senchey district.
On Monday, the women took another fake gold ring to sell to the victim.
However, she reported them to police and they were detained.
Police confiscated four fake gold rings and fake US banknotes from them.
