Lt Gen Manet said today that he was surprised when he saw a video footage of Mr Rainsy speaking to his supporters on September 28 in the US, where he praised the education system in France and attacked the education system in the Kingdom.

Mr Rainsy also said the US Military Academy, known as West Point provided two categories of certificates between the US and foreign students. He also alleged that Lt Gen Manet’s 1999 West Point graduation was “fake” or “diploma” certificate that was provided for as an encouragement to foreign students.

“If the US Military Academy, West Point provides certificate in two categories, like what Sam Rainsy has said… I will resign from all positions with the armed forces units and will become a civilian forever.” Lt Gen Manet said.

“But if Sam Rainsy can’t prove that West Point has two different values of degree… I wish Sam Rainsy to leave from politics forever.” He added.

Through Facebook posts, Prime Minister Hun Sen today considered Lt Gen Manet’s challenge thrown at Rainsy as a crackdown against a “traitor”.

“It is your [Hun Manet] turn to crackdown on this traitor because he is the one who attacker you first,” Mr Hun Sen said.
