Mr Samrin is in Kazakhstan to attend the 4th Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments in the capital of Nur-Sultan. The theme of the meeting is “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue, Trust and Partnership.”

Mr Samrin has been there since Sunday and the meeting is scheduled to wrap up today.

Mr Samrin said Cambodia and Kazakhstand should foster good relations in his speech yesterday during a sideline meeting with Kazakh parliament president Nurlan Nigmatulin.

“Cambodia and Kazakhstan could become two important countries that serve as a bridge in linking Asean and Eurasian economies,” he said.

Mr Nigmatulin thanked Mr Samrin for coming to Kazakhstan to attend the MSECP.

“The attendance of Samdech Heng Samrin is historical and this meeting is successful,” Mr Nigmatulin said in a statement.

Mr Samrin also held a bilateral meeting with Vietnam’s parliament vice president Trong Thi Phong.

Mr Samrin noted that Vietnam provided $25 million in aid for the construction of a 12-storey National Assembly General Secretariat building.

Ms Trong responded by praising Mr Samrin’s achievements.

She said a book about Mr Samrin’s history will be translated into the Vietnamese language and be kept so Vietnam’s next generation can learn from it.

Ms Trong said Mr Samrin has been invited to attend the 41st Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Vietnam next year.
