Interior Ministry’s General Immigration Department on Wednesday deported 150 Chinese nationals who were caught operating Voice over Internet Protocol scams in Preah Sihanouk and Kampong Speu provinces.
According to GID report, it cooperated with airport officials on Wednesday morning to fly the 150 Chinese suspects by two chartered flights from Phnom Penh International Airport to China.
It said that the 150 Chinese nationals, including 12 women were arrested two months ago in two raids by the Interior Ministry’s counter-terrorism and transnational crime department in Kampong Speu and Preah Sihanouk provinces.
It said on July 20 police had arrested 18 Chinese nationals in connection with VoIP scams in Kampong Speu province and on August 15, 132 others were nabbed in Sihanoukville for illegally running the VoIP scams.
The arrests were made based on a request made by Chinese authority after they identified the suspects who were involved in the case.
