Cambodia Angkor Air, the national flag carrier, has taegeted late October to launch direct flights between Phnom Penh and Da Nang, in central Vietnam.
The announcement was made after a meeting on Thursday between Ministry of Tourism and Cambodia Angkor Air, represented by the company’s CEO Hoang Manh Tuan.
Mr Hoang, said the company sought the support from the ministry for the launching of direct flights between the two cities which will take off on 27th of October.
Phnom Penh will become the second route of Cambodia Angkor Air connecting Da Nang after Siem Reap, a home to the world heritage Angkor archaeological park.
Tourism Minister Thong Khon, welcomed the move and hailed Da Nang as one of Vietnam’s largest tourism destination.
“The direct flight will help boost tourist to Cambodia, thanks to foreign tourists visiting Da Nang, they can now board a plane and travel directly to Phnom Penh,” he said.
However, the minister has called on the company to further enhance its service quality as the airline is the country’s flag carrier.
