Cambodia and Vietnam to convene 17th meeting of the Joint Commission

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn is to co-chair the 17th Meeting of the Cambodia-Vietnam Joint Commission for Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation with the Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Minister Pham Binh Minh in Phnom Penh next week.

The 17th Cambodia-Vietnam JC meeting will be held for two days in Phnom Penh from Tuesday to Wednesday.

According a release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cambodia – Vietnam JC meeting has been held regularly aiming to update the progress of cooperation and to explore ways and means to further expand the scope and efficiency of bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.

“It also gives an opportunity for both parties to exchange their views on cooperation of mutual interest in the regional and international frameworks.” the statement said.

During his stay in Phnom Penh, Mr Binh Minh is expected to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen.

“This 17th Cambodia – Vietnam JC Meeting will further enhance the long-lasting fraternal ties and good neighborliness between the two countries as well as making contribution to peace and prosperity in the region and beyond.” the statement added.

As of last year, Vietnam had about 210 investment projects in Cambodia, mostly in agriculture, with a total registered investment capital of about $3 billion.
