The Interior Ministry on Monday opened one-window service offices in four districts in Battambang province to speed up delivery of public services and eliminate unofficial fees.

Ngoun Ratanak, provincial governor launched the offices for Sampov Laun, Kamrieng, Rotanak Mondol and Banan districts at a ceremony in Kamrieng.

He said administrative officials in the four districts have to effectively implement the One-Window Service Office mechanism in accordance with the legal norms and to disseminate information on the minimum amounts that the public has to pay for services.

“The provision of services in each office has to be done with transparency, accountability, efficiency, equity response and participation from people,” Mr Ratanak said. “Any official or staff who acts irresponsibly, such as being high-handed, or does not offer the administrative services to the people will be disciplined.”

According to a report by the provincial administration, the ministry had already opened one-window service offices in Battambang city and four districts in the province since 2016.

It noted that the districts covered were Moung Ruessei, Sangkae, Thamor Koul and Bavel.

The report said that next year, offices will be opened in Rukhak Kiri, Koas Krala, Samlout, Phnom Prek and Ek Phnom districts.

Mr Ratanak said that one-window service offices are being established in order to provide certain administrative services to citizens in a timely and efficient manner.

Trai Roth, acting governor of Sampov Laun district, today said that the One-Window Service Office will greatly benefit its people.

“It is good that our people will have access to administrative services through this office,” he said.

Earlier this year, Interior Minister Sar Kheng advised officials to increase their capacity to solve people’s problems through local mechanisms such as one-window service offices and sub-national administrative offices.
