Minister of Interior Sar Kheng has warned that he will take action against Kandal provincial police chief Major General Eav Chamroeun after a group of unnamed provincial police officials had jointly thumb-printed a complaint accusing him of corruption and nepotism.
The complaint regarding Maj Gen Chamroeun’s leadership was addressed to Mr Sar Kheng, dated April 19.

Sixteen points were listed, such as Maj Gen Chamroeun diverting election security funds, unlawful use of cars seized from criminal suspects, abuse of power, taking bribes for promotions and extorting subordinates.
In a letter obtained by the media today, Mr Kheng said Maj Gen Chamroeun had received a “first warning” over what he said was “lack of attention to management and leadership”.

“This individual must correct his mistakes and behavior” Mr Kheng said. “If you continue to oppose my instruction, [I] will take action in accordance with the to National Police discipline code.”
Mr Kheng also ordered National Police Chief General Neth Savoeun and provincial governor Mao Phirun and Maj Gen Chamroeun to implement his instruction letter.
