Interior minister Sar Kheng has filed a complaint against Sam Rainsy at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on July 2 for incitement to commit felony.
According to the complaint, a copy of which was obtained on Saturday, the complaint against Mr Rainsy was filed because of Mr Rainsy’s post in his facebook page on June 2 about the death of former National Police Commissioner Hong Lundy. The post claimed that current Lieutenant General Dy Vichea, director of Interior Ministry’s Security Central Department knew clearly about his father’s death and Mr Vichea was organizing a plan to revenge the death with the support of Mr Kheng because Mr Kheng knew that prime minister Hun Sen has been organizing a plan to withdraw his position and replace him with one of his sons.
“Fiction. The information to accuse and spin a fictitious story by Sam Rainsy…to cause high leaders of the government to have suspicions on each other and break internal unity that could create internal conflicts within the government,” the complaint said.
The complaint signed by three lawyers of Mr Kheng noted that based on this action, Mr Rainsy had harboured intentions to incite and break the internal solidary of the government’s high leaders to cause serious chaos for society which will destroy political stability and peace.
Mr Kheng requested the court to take action against Sam Rainsy by the law and demanded $1 million from Sam Rainsy.
Kuch Kimlong, spokesman of the municipal Court said that the municipal court received the complaint from Mr Kheng’s lawyers on July 2.
“Now we continue the procedure on this case based on the law,” said Mr Kimlong.
