A brace from Brazilian forward Eliel da Cruz Guardiano and a goal from Cheng Meng ensured Visakha claimed all three points as they handed a 3-1 defeat to National Police on Sunday. Shane Booysen struck back with a goal on the hour but it was not enough as Police went down to their eight defeat of the season.
Meanwhile, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng maintained their position at the top of the Metfone C-League pile securing a point at home in a goalless 0-0 draw against defending champions NagaWorld.
In Sunday’s other fixtures, Phnom Penh Crown poured 17 goals beyond Kompong Cham in a 17-2 win, while Boeung Ket defeated Kirivong Sok Sen Chey 2-1
Crown also announced the arrival of midfield playmaker and Afghanistan international Mustafa Zazai. The 26-year old comes to Crown via Kelantan FA of Malaysia, having previously turned out for lower league clubs in Germany and Thailand.
Signed as a replacement for departed Japanese midfielder Shuhei Mitsuhashi, the Afghan said he was excited to turn out for the Red Singha.
“I’m proud to play for the best team in Cambodia and the team with the most trophies, said Zazai in a promotional video released by Crown. “I’m the first Afghan player in the history to play in Cambodian football league.”
The six-time champions also extended their contract with Brazilian striker Paulo Victor until 2020. They currently sit sixth with 24 points.
