Newly-appointed National Committee Disaster Management first vice president Kun Kim yesterday vowed to work effectively to implement the government’s disaster relief and management policies.
Mr Kim was appointed to the position to replace Nhim Vanda who was fired by Prime Minister Hun Sen over Saturday’s deadly collapse of a seven-storey building in Sihanoukville.
Bin Chhin, Minister in Charge of the Council of Ministers, yesterday announced his appointment during a ceremony at the council’s headquarters.
During the ceremony, Mr Kim pledged his commitment to help people who suffer from disasters across the Kingdom.
“I pledge my commitment to carry out the government’s policies effectively,” he said.
During the ceremony, Mr Chhin reminded Mr Kim against practising nepotism when promoting NCDM officials.
“His Excellency Kun Kim has to practice good management and not simply replace officials as has been the case where new people who are appointed to helm an organisation start promoting their cronies to important positions,” he said. “I hope all NCDM officials will cooperate with Mr Kim to do his job.”
