Police officers from the municipal anti-drug police department yesterday morning cooperated with Daun Pen district police to apprehend five people suspected of trafficking drugs in Srah Chak commune.
Major Heng Sopheak, an officer with the municipal anti-drug police department, yesterday said the five were all males and that they were arrested at about 1.30am yesterday.
He noted that a total of 519 bags of methamphetamine were confiscated, along with a scale, a sword, and other drug materials.
“They were drug distributors who had often sold drugs to users in Srah Chak commune,” Maj Sopheak said. “We arrested them as they were looking for customers early on Monday.”
He noted that after they were arrested, the five were sent to the Daun Penh district police station for questioning.
Colonel Teang Chansar, chief of Daun Penh district police, yesterday confirmed that the suspects were still being questioned at the district police station.
Col Chansar said the five are to be sent to court after district police have finished questioning them.
He noted that police are now looking to arrest the ringleaders and anyone connected to the suspects.
