Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court today charged two Chinese nationals over the kidnapping of four of their fellow countrymen who owed them money from gambling debts.
Deputy provincial police chief Colonel Sith Lah identified the two accused as Wang Dao Dong, 49, and Jiang Feng, 37, both of whom were loan sharks working at a Chinese-owned casino in Poipet city.
Col Lah said they were today charged by the court with unlawful confinement and noted they are face up to five years each in prison if convicted.
“They are still being questioned by the investigating judge at the provincial court,” he added. “They will then be sent to prison pending their trial.”
Col Lah said the duo was arrested at about 4pm on Sunday at a rental house in Poipet city’s Poipet commune. They were arrested after anti-cybercrime officers raided their home.
