MoU signed to allocate $7m to help children

The Social Affairs Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with eight non-government organizations(NGOs) to allocate nearly $7 million over the next three years to help orphans, young crime victims, and vulnerable children throughout the country.

The MoU signing at the ministry on Thursday, May 23, was presided over by Touch Channy, General Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Technical Department. The funding is aimed to upgrade the social sector in Cambodia, focusing on helping crime victims who are children, vulnerable children, and children from poor families nation-wide.

Mr Channy said that the cooperation is essential in promoting the social sector in Cambodia and, contemporaneously, he asked the ministry’s work group and the cooperating organizations to work together as closely as possible.

“Our ministry still welcomes [the help of] relevant partners and organizations to help Cambodia’s victims improve their livelihoods and living standards.”

The some of the aforementioned co-signing NGOs: MRRCY Ministries Foundation in Banteay Meanchey Province, Elizabeth Public School in Preah Sihanouk and Phnom Penh peovinces,and the Australia-Cambodia Foundation in Kandal Province.

The eight organizations that co-signed the MoU with the Ministry of Social Affairs are all organizations that have been active in helping children and poor youths in Cambodia.
