Kandal provincial police on Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly posting nude pictures and a sex tape of his mistress online.

Major Neang Saruon, a police officer at the provincial anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection department, identified the suspect as Meas Chamroeun, a 33-year-old construction worker living in Choeung Prey commune in Kampong Cham province’s Batheay district.

The victim was identified as a 27-year-old garment worker who lives in Kampong Samnanh commune in Kandal province’s Takhmao city.

Maj Saruon said that Mr Chamroeun was arrested on Wednesday in Takhmao city following a complaint submitted against him by the victim, who claims that Mr Chamroeun posted nude pictures of her on Facebook along with a video of them having sex.

Maj Saruon noted that Mr Chamroeun and the victim met on Facebook in February this year. They soon forged a relationship, with the suspect hiding the fact that he had a wife and children.

Mr Chamroeun would cheat on his wife with the victim at various guesthouses and would take pictures and videos of the victim when she was naked and when they were having sex.

In May, the victim found out that Mr Chamroeun was married and immediately stopped seeing him. The suspect became very angry that she would not take his calls any more.

On Tuesday, Mr Chamroeun posted nude pictures of her online, along with a video of them having sex.

Maj Saruon said after seeing the posts, the victim lodged a complaint to Takhmao city police and asked them to arrest him.

Maj Saruon said that police went undercover to pretend to be the victim and lured Mr Chamroeun to a guesthouse in Takhmao city.

He added that the suspect was arrested at about 3pm on Wednesday when police spotted Mr Chamroeun on his motorbike on his way to the guesthouse.

Following his arrest, police seized a motorbike and a Samsung Galaxy Grand phone from him.

“During police interrogation, he admitted committing the offence,” Maj Saruon said. “He confessed that he posted nude pictures of the victim and a clip of them having sex because he was angry that she left him. He couldn’t accept that she didn’t want to be with him anymore.”

Maj Suroun added that the suspect is accused of threats and blackmail and faces six months to two years in jail if convicted.
