Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng were thwarted in their bid to retain top dog status in the Metfone C-League as a late Khuon Laboravy equaliser held Conor Nestor’s men to a 2-2 draw against Boeung Ket.
BK’s Eduardo Purccino scored the opener in first-half stoppage time but a little under ten minutes into the second period, Preah Khan Reach restored parity through Jean Privat Mbarga. With Boeung Ket still dazed from the equaliser, Charles Machell then handed Conor Nestor’s men the lead for the first time in the match converting the visitors second goal of the game.
However, Khuon Laboravy, a second-half substitute, rifled in a fine header at the near post in the 88th minute to deny the Svay Rieng side maximum points.
The draw – only their second of the season – sees PKR drop to second in the league standings. They sit a point behind league leaders and defending champions NagaWorld who top the table on 21 points courtesy of seven wins in eight outings.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Kirivong Sok Sen Chey provided the shock of the weekend as they prevailed 4-1 over Ministry of National Defense. In other matches, Asia Euro United strolled to a 5-0 win over hapless Kampong Cham, while National Police got only their second win of the season as they edged Electricite du Cambodge 1-0.
