National Police chief General Neth Savoeun said on Tuesday evening that the gang of Chinese men in a footage does not stay in Cambodia, noting that it was an old video clip.
“After the investigation, we found that the video clip is old, and the gang of Chinese men is not staying in Preah Sihanouk province,” Gen Savoeun said “National police officers have continued to investigate and shared the information on this case with China.”
The footage showed a man in a white t-shirt with a group of tattooed individuals saying that they hailed from China’s Chongqing city and they will commit crimes.
After the viral footage, the Chinese embassy issued a statement on Sunday that Chinese police will work with their Cambodian counterparts to investigate the footage showing unidentified Chinese nationals threatening to cause trouble in Preah Sihanouk province.
“The Chinese embassy in Cambodia is very concerned about this and will coordinate with police officers in Cambodia and China to investigate this issue,” the Chinese embassy said.
