With the league reaching its fourth matchweek of action, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng top the Metfone C-League table after handing Phnom Penh Crown a 5-1 hiding in Svay Rieng.
A goal from Sok Samnang and a brace each for Prak Mony Udom and Privat Mbarga helped PKR to maintain their 100 percent win record with Coach Conor Nestor praising the team for dominating large portions of the match.
“I think these three points are very important, he said in his post-match comments. “We did well in the first 70 minutes, but in the last 20 minutes not so much. So, we have to learn do better and I believe we can continue to win.”
“I think the Man of the Match is for the whole team. This is what we need to learn. When everyone is working and focused as a group.”
PKR top the standings with maximum points (12) from four games played and two ahead of second-placed Ministry of National Defense.
For Crown, the match was a reminder that the club needed to improve if they were to challenge for a title they have previously won on six occasions.
“We must work much harder and concentrate more on the games and training. We need to train more than 100 per cent and help each other to improve,” Choun Chanchav told ppcfc.com.
“It’s a very tough game for us as they are a strong team with more experience than us, Crown midfielder Choun Chanchav told ppcfc.com. “We also lacked confidence, and we didn’t play well as a team.”
“However, we must do our job, play our games, and apply what we have [been] learning in training in with the resources we have. There’s room for improvement in our defense as we need to be more confident in the game. We can’t make mistakes during the game.”
Crown suffered their third defeat having previously lost out to Boeung Ket and Visakha.
Elsewhere on Sunday, a 7-0 win over Kampong Cham left Boeung Ket coach Hao Socheat satisfied.
“Before coming here, we had already aimed to take three points. We tryied to put new players and youngsters into the game to get the chance to prepare for the next game,” said Socheat.
The win came courtesy of a hat-trick from Julius Oiboh, a double from Brazilian forward Eduardo ‘Dudu’ Luiz Purcino and a goal apiece from Cambodian duo Khuon Laboravy and Mat Yamin
Also on Sunday, Ministry of Defense defeated National Police Commissary with a 4-2 win. Defending league champs NagaWorld claimed a 1-0 victory away to Soltilo Angkor.
